Ask Apple to add ancient Greek input to iOS
With iWork (Apple's "Office" suite) now on the iPhone and iCloud coming (which will sync your iWork files across your Mac and iOS devices), I hope more and more people will be encouraged to make the switch to Pages and Keynote (from Word and Powerpoint). But Classicists (and some philosophers, historians, linguists, theologians, etc.) need to ability to enter ancient Greek on all our devices.
Apple has long had their own polytonic Greek keyboard as part of the Mac OS. iOS displays basic polytonic Greek fine (so the font support is there) and already has a modern/monotonic Greek keyboard, so it should not be a big deal to get a polytonic Greek keyboard on iOS.
If you want to ask Apple to add an ancient/polytonic Greek keyboard to iOS, please visit www.apple.com/feedback (select iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch as the product) and ask for it as an enhancement request. Please share this info with friends and colleagues. The more requests, the better.
